Shared on Mon, 10/09/2006 - 08:52We got home from Maryland last night around midnight. I get irritable whenever we return from a trip that late and have to a resume normal workday the following morning. That did not escape my wife's attention, so after a bit of bickering, we unloaded everything, fed the boy, and got ourselves to bed. Tonight we'll try to do everything we normally do plus get groceries and do laundry. Fun, fun!
The weekend visit with my wife's family was nice, overall. Saturday, we visited our friends and their 2 month old daughter, which was the main purpose of the weekend's trip. It was exactly the sort of thing that makes me uncomfortable. Their entire family was there, so it wasn't like we could monopolize their time. That left me talking with their strange family members and chasing Noah around trying to keep him from the stairs, out of the kitchen drawers, out of the bedrooms, etc. Also, it became incredibly warm in the main living room since about 30-40 people were in there for a few hours. Combine the physical discomfort with my introversion and you can imagine how pleasant it was. However, it was nice to see our friends and their little baby girl.
We left there around 4:30 PM (I was hugged by aunt Sally for some reason) and went to a Japanese steak house for dinner. I hadn't been to one before, and it was pretty neat. They sat us around a grill and our very own chef cooked everything right in front of us. Straight from the heat to our plate! It was homecoming for some school around there, and there were couples all around. I didn't think it was a great place to take a date since they sat everyone in groups of 9-10 regardless of whether you knew them or not. Our grill included us, my wife's family, and a goth couple. The chef made lots of jokes while cooking and tossed chicken in everyone's mouth. The goth girl seemed to be having fun, but the douche she was with just made annoying glances at everyone as if he was getting a perpetual probing from a proctologist named Dr. Hook. Anyway, I'd gladly go to one again...the food was great and it was very entertaining for Noah.
I got an email Friday (10/6/06) that my laptop finally shipped. Some Hewlett Packard rep left a message on my machine this weekend saying that they received my email and wanted to talk to me. I'm not sure what he'll say when I call him back, however, I suspect that they'll lay some blame on Comp USA, who, in turn, will blame HP. I blame both of them, so I guess it's irrelevant what they say. On the bright side of things, though, I'll be able to cap games again this week (assuming, of course, that it actually arrives before next Monday...). I really miss capping my games, as strange as that may sound, so that'll have me in a good mood once I'm back in the business.
I'm not looking forward to tomorrow night's FFA. By then, I'll not have played in a week and, if I'm lucky, I'll get about an hour to warm up. It'll be a miracle if I make it to the second round. Hopefully I'll reacclimate to everything quickly, if not, I'm in for some pain.
