I work in a three story building, and over the summer it was announced that the organization that filled the third floor was going to be disbanded, and another organization that is expanding will be occupying the third floor. Of course the current layout of the buildig did not meet some of their needs, so they renovated. During the renovation asbestos was found, and abatement would have to ensue.
This didn't bother me too much, this can be done while the rest of the building is occupied, the area that is being worked on is sealed off, precautions are taken, etc. Except for the odor of the chemicals that are used. They suck. So we made it through with only a few people growing a third arm and twitching.
So the command of the second floor decided they need bigger offices and a renovation. Now, logic should prevail, asbestos should be found, right? For some reason that idea never seemed to come to light. Until two weeks ago. Now the building is going through the second abatement. Again, no big deal, except all of the people that occupied the second floor have been filling in spots on the first floor and the odors again. To combat the odors we have left the doors to the outside open. Good idea except it's cold outside!
So, now I have a huge headache from the odor and I'm cold at work. Rumor is the first floor (my floor) is next. I hope not. I think this carpet looks fine and should sit right where it is. But I don't make those decisions.
On the bright side we're celebrating Octoberfest today! Bratwursts make everything all right.
Have a good weekend.
