Work Day From Hell

Today was one of the worst days I have ever worked in my clinic!  I am so tired, I could just go to bed.  Got to work at 7:30, as usual.  Checked out the patient load.  Oh, this is good!  Only 30 patients to see today.....  Seeing as there were 6 of us, that seemed reasonable.  Soooo, the first thing that happened was, the computer system went down.  OMG!  That meant that everything had to be done by hand.  Without going into any detail at all, that meant that anything we did that used any electronic device was unavailable.  So, we generated a lot of paper, hand delivered things to other departments, and, generally, wasted lots of time not getting much done.

Around noon, the system was back online, but the day was already shot.  We were all having a bad IV day, which interrupts treatment.  No IV, no treatment.  I stuck this one unfortunate woman 5 times!  I'm usually a first stick wonder.  And then, the add-ons started to show up.  One here.  One there.  Who can see this patient?  That patient?  We ended up with over 50 patients that were seen and/or treated by 6 nurses today.  

Unless you have been there, you can't even imagine what I am talking about.  I just thought I would rant a little tonight.  So, ok, rant over!
