Solar Fury - First SS

My games name is Solar Fury.and here is the first Screen Shot.

Its not AA and the lighting isnt in yet the way I want, but the ships will be dark in the game (unless their own lights, or another light source hit them)

The game is a action/strategy hybrid, built using the XNA framework (which isnt perfect yet) so it will be playable on the Xbox 360

Looks cool! Can we get a shot of the ship passing a light source? (such as another ship exploding?)

eventually, yes to a ship exploding. But a light source will be coming.. I had one last night, but it was really bright on the one side and I thought the brightness of the lighting wouldnt appeal to people in a SS.. but in a movie it might more.

Great job Falelorn. What is your modeling software? I am a CG artist. I work with Lightwave mostly. Do you have an ambient (distant,or global) light source? Like a star or planet? I would like to see more screen shots as you get them. :)

I have gamespace and 3DSMax 7 but I really am not a modeller (I suck at it) but I use them when I need to quickly pop up something. I buy / beg / borrow models Right now I have three lights. A star (but I limited the light range due to speed issues atm), a point light in the camera and general ambient light so I can see if the ship is moving correctly. I hope to have more shots by this weekend..

ROFLMAO....you're using the same model ship pack that I bought when I was doing engine design. *do* make sure you make use of the specular and bump maps he provides with those models. Once you get your specular lighting shader cooked up it makes those ships look *really* bad-ass. Give me a shout if you need any help.

@SGreth - ya, they do nice models and good and cheap enough for nice temp models for a game.
