Hot! Hot! Hot! First PS3 Impressions

The title refers to the system.  You can heat an entire room with a PS3, whether you want to or not.  Here are my observations on a standard definition TV:

1. Easy to install.  Just like the Wii if you have Wireless set up at home.  The initial update took awhile, though.
2. Signed up for the store.  There are a few demos and a few games available.  PSP games are on there, though I don't know how to install.  I'm guessing ad-hoc network?
3. Ridge Racer 7.  It's an ever-so-slight sequel to Ridge Racer 6.  Backgrounds are prettier w/more special effects on the cars.  Too many of the tracks are the same as Ridge Racer 6 (Xbox 360), so I wasted my money!  Standard control is default.  Tilt control is optional.
4. Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom.  Wow!  Very nice looking hack-and-slash.  Combo buttons make it feel a little like Devil May Cry.  The game throws you right into the fray.  If you liked Baldur's Gate on PS2, you'll like this.
5. Shadow of the Colossus (PS2 game on PS3).  Looks the same as PS2 to me.  I actually could see more motion on the screen due to better color separation.  I couldn't tell you if the PS3 enhanced anything, but its a great game if you haven't played it.

I have much to learn about the memory cards and such.  Overall, Wii has more game titles when you count the virtual console games.  Military Madness (Turbografx) and Space Harrier II (Genesis) came out Monday.  I can't remember what the available games at Genesis launch were, but Altered Beast was the pack-in, and Space Harrier II was also a Genesis Launch.

On different news, now that the game Psychonauts for Xbox is compatible with the Xbox360, go get it!  It was also on PS2 and PC if you don't have an Xbox.

I also have logged 90 hours on Enchanted Arms.  Most of that was me asleep at the wheel.  The only other games that kept me for 80 hours or more were Final Fantasy IX and Megaman Battle Network 3 Red Sun.  Don't underestimate the Battle Network games on GBA and DS, they're rather deep.
