The PS2 Controller Problem (and other PS3 observations)

I tried out my old PS2-to-USB adapters on my Dual Shock 2.  It partially works with the main menu of the PS3.  Unfortunately, the system checks for valid controllers everytime you start a new game.  The adapter wasn't designed to handshake with a PS3, so it just doesn't work.

Luckily, my salvation is at hand!  Getting DDR to work with the pad is my friend's prerequisite for purchasing a PS3.  Will it work?

I like the Sixaxis.  No rumble feature, but it is light and comfortable even though a rechargeable battery is inside.  Without rumble, these batteries will last longer per charge.

I also like the Playstation Store.  It's well organized and it uses actual dollar amounts.  I'm not too fond of the 99 cent prices, though.  It reminds me of Walmart underpricing the competition by 2 cents (.97 instead of .99) and claiming they're cheaper than retail.  It also pretty much ensures your account will always have odd-cents until you buy 100 items.  Let's pretend there will be 4 million accounts.  that could amount to $39K in loose change.  Also consider the system sells "game cash" in $5 increments, meaning that now you're talking $200K in loose change.  If anyone knows a way to prevent this "loose change," please comment.
