The first level is the tutorial I ran through this very quickly and I thought I should be prepared for real combat. I found out that I was still wearing the red shirt and I died easily. While starting in the "Captain Archer era" your ships have no shields and against Romulan shielded ships to defeat the romulans you need to coorinate your fleet and concentrate fire which i found difficult. I got frustrated and started to dislike this game it felt "undone" . . I stuck with it and played with the motivationod " I want shields" and I gotta "hear Shatner "( he cracks me up). Finally in the last level of "Archer" the controls clicked in and I started to get thes "Cap ship Battles". I reached the "Kirk era" got my shields and with my new found understanding of the controls ot the helm to defeat some Kligons! Now I can whip my Ships around target one enemy and keep my ships somewhat together. It is now addicting and alot of Fun to play. The Story line is the Same through all ERAs like in "generations" where you are trying Discover the plot being weaved by the vulcans ( it just takes 3 generations to do it ) remember Vulcans have a long lifespan.
Star Trek Legacy feels like a space shooter but plays like an RTS, while I dont think you cant loop it into one of those genres, it seems to have a nice combantion of both.
The controls and gameplay have a steep learning curve so if you pick this one up or get it Christmas atleast play until the Kirk era because that seemsto be where the learning curve kicks in and the game becomes real fun to play. WARP SPEED AHEAD!
