Notice I said READ.
I say this because the people with the most popular blogs tend to be the people who post everyday, like Soupnazzi and Raiz3R. They post some diversionary things that are entertaining, but really serve no real purpose except to waste time. There is certainly nothing wrong with wasting time. Especially if you're getting paid to do it.
But it saddens me to see many people just don't get viewed as often as others because they don't include a gratuitous hoob shot, a youtube video, or a link to porn.
I'm not being snobbish and saying you should stop viewing blogs of this nature. Hell, I look at some of these guys' blogs religiously. I also read others as well.
2old2play has some incredibly entertaining authors blogging. Some people are downright hilarious (Darthclem, Philthy, Xevias) others give views on life that offer perspective (jolly, luna) and some produce great product reviews (faelorn).
I guess what i'm trying to say to you guys is don't focus on only the top four in the blog section, or even the top 25. Many people don't post as often because they know they're being moved out of the spotlight so quickly, only a handful of people are reading what they have written. Others, like myself, only blog twice a month, but put a tremendous amount of effort into their pieces.
So try to check out these popular blog author's (Like Soup's) bookmarks and surf for who you like to read. Then bookmark them yourselves. It doesn't matter if you blog or not, your blog page will contain these bookmarks and you can return to the blogs you prefer at your leisure.
And read people's previous blog entries. Some people try to theme their blogs, but others just write whatever comes to mind. maybe you'll find a style you dig.
If you find a blog you enjoy reading, leave a comment. Any comment to any writer is positive reenforcement...except if you were to write something like, "I think your blog is dogshit", or "I've read toothpaste ingredients that were more entertaining than your blog." It goes without saying, if people know you like to read what they've written, chances are, they'll write something more often. Even if the entry is months old, a comment will let people know you're reading. If you do this, you will get more material you find enjoyable, and authors will feel fulfilled.
