Am I way off base?

I'm trying to wrap my head around this whole blogging thing.  I guess I was under the impression that it was kinda like your public journal -- sharing with others a little piece of your life.  I've certainly come to feel like I know some of the members of this board on a more personal level as a result of their blogs.  It's a brave thing to put your life out there in the public domain, and I applaud my fellow 2o2p'ers who have taken time to share with us their successes, their failures, their challenges, their anecdotes, and their editorials on subjects they care about.

I have to admit, though, that generally the only way I go into the blogs are by clicking on those in the "most recent four" up in the banner area.  The problem with that method is that the "most recent four" seem to often be a collection of YouTube videos or pics of the day.

Granted, I'm pretty new to this whole blogging thing, so I'll be the first to admit I don't know whether a bunch of embedded pics and/or videos constitutes a blog.  Similarly, I don't know what's a reasonable amount of blogging for a given day.  Is blogging 3-5 times per day excessive?  Should people be limited to one blog per day?  Should the most prolific bloggers just get their own "top 4" and the rest of us then populate the "most recent four"?  Should we have a "video/pictures" blog section and a "text" blog section?  I'm just throwing things out here, and if I am way off base, I just crawl back into my corner...

Requisite hot chick pic.  Is it just be or do Salma Hayek's breasts just keep getting bigger?

I typically give the 'hot chick' and 'youtube' blogs a thumbs down so that the introspective blogs get more airtime in the top four. One blog per day should be more the norm.

A blog can be personal, but there are those who are wary of internet posting because of "outside" people who may use information to their advantage. Case in point, a custody battle after a divorce or the divorce itself. All a person has to do is google a user name and it wouldn't be hard to find real identities. On the other hand, videos give a glimpse into the psychy [sic] of that person without too many words. It's just another way of expression.

Saliva tends to enhance breast enlargement.....and I'm droolin'.:) There's no answer to make everyone happy in the blog arena, I too think one a day is plenty though. I'm not too into the you-tube stuff, but I feel if someone is into that they will find a fun mix here as compared to "surfin'" for them randomly. My view on blogs are that they are the personal part of us in the site here.......and the forums are more the "public" part. just my 2 cents. :)

A Blog to me is just a part of the person. I read some blogs updated over 50 times a day, sometimes with fluff, sometimes with good info, but usually just useless info that is funny at the time if you were there or know the person. Dont try to compete, just do it the way you want. I mix mine up with games, games news, game development, youtube videos that are music or movies, and sometimes just random thoughts or the like.
