emotion

I love music. I'm not hardcore like some of you, but I am really moved by music. I love music with meaning, music that moves you. I love art. I could look at Liz Lemon Swindles paintings all day. The classics like Monet and Van Gohg  amaze me.
I am moved  by other peoples passions, and by how they have expressed it. My brother wrote his wife (then girlfriend) a song for the night he proposed. So did my brother in Law to my sister.
There are days that I'm so happy and wish there was a way that I could express that. I look at my kids and wish I was eloquent enough to write a poem or even a letter to them that expressed how I felt with out saying "I love you" 10,000 times. There are days that my heart breaks and I wish there was a way to release the sadness besides simply just crying. There are days when I'm so pissed off that I feel that with out a release I would explode. All of those times that I have so much emotion in me that I simply don't know how to express or release.
Today is one of those emotion filled days. I wish I had the talent to pick up some oil paints and make a picture of whats going through my heart or mind, or sit at a piano and let the keys let out a melody that would connect with others. I feel so held back by my own lack of talent. So instead I will go to what others have made and hope that I can find presicley what I'm looking for.

I always just go to my friend the punching bag.....that always seems to work out, but if your feelings are anger and you need to get it out right away, i sugest remembering gloves, or you end up with scars on your knuckles....and the chicks don't dig that so much.....i would assume that the guys wouldn't either, but i wouldn't know anything about that.....

Lady- I know what you mean. For us talentless ones, try the following. (this is easy if you have kids too) just grab a random crayon without looking at what color it is and just let your hand do what it wants to a piece of paper or the wall if you are so inclined. Change crayons when you feel the need. You might be suprised at what you end up seeing and feeling.

Just because you don't feel you have talent to write songs or paint pictures, doesn't mean you don't have a way to express yourself. Do what makes you feel good. If that is to listen to the Masters or stare at a picture, be it a Van Gough or one of your children's pictures. Just remember to breathe.

Excellent suggestion a_burn. For people that like writing, pick up a few packs of "magnetic poetry" (http://magneticpoetry.com). As a game, break up the words and place them face down on a table, then take a piece/word at a time, flip it over and stick in on the fridge, or whatever. When the words make some sort of sense, then you'll have a poem, story or art piece.

I'm surprised that you feel unable to express your emotions. The writing you do often shows the ability to paint word pictures that capture attention and let others see what you see and feel what you feel. Maybe you just need to cultivate it a little more and appreciate the talent that you have.
