More !@#$ing snow

Woke up this morning to find my fair community in general, and my driveway in particular, had been blessed with even more snow. It had blown and drifted to maybe 18"-24" deep across the driveway. I let out a big sigh and thought it better to try and treat this day as any other.

5:30AM Wake, look out the window, and sigh as mentioned above.
5:40AM Check email. Damn, no news on plant being closed.
5:43AM Shower. Take more time than usual in anticipation of days trials and tribulations
5:45AM Dress. Very warm clothes
5:50AM Kiss wife on forehead. Wish her happy valentine's day. She says, "I love you, drive carefully."
6:00AM Open garage door. Blink twice and rub eyes. Snow everywhere. Penguins are frolicking. A polar bear tries to sell me a bottle of Coca-cola. It's one of the old fashioned fluted kind.
6:05AM Try and start snowblower. No fucking dice. This is the same snowblower that worked just fine 12 hours before.
6:10AM In a feat of incredible optimism, I get in Jeep, engage 4x4 low, and launch said vehicle into great white yonder.
6:11AM Jeep is now stuck ten feet from it's starting position. I have to crawl out window as the snow is well past the bottom of the door.
6:15AM Call boss and tell him I'll be late if in at all...for the second day in a row
6:20AM Get undressed
6:23AM Climb back into bed. Kiss wife on forehead. Tell her Jeep is stuck in driveway. She says, "I love you, drive carefully." Sidebar: my wife doesn't even know there is a 6:00AM in addition to the one that occurs twelve hours later
9:30AM Wake-up again, get dressed, have coffee, and go back into the garage
9:45AM Commence battling with piece of shit snowblower. It's got spark, good gas, gas to carb. Overprime engine, and it will run 1.7 seconds. Damn. Carb is fucked. Figure there is water in the bowl which froze, fucking up the float.
10:00AM Start shoveling...and shoveling...and shoveling...and shoveling.
Noon Finally get Jeep unstuck. This is of little consequence as the jerk-off employed by the neighborhood to plow streets has installed a wall at the end of my driveway of which a xenaphopic Mandarin would be proud.
12:15PM Suspicious looking pickup truck pulls up in street. Guy jumps out wearing jeans and a t-shirt. It is 22 degrees. Guy announces he is from MowerCare, and he was called by my now vertical wife. Ask him if he wants a coat. He laughs and says he's from Detroit.
12:16PM Guy has snowblower fixed in the time it took me to fetch a beer and scratch my ass. Turns out snowblowers don't like six month old lawnmower gas. This was something I suspected, but didn't want to believe....kind of like trickle down economics. Main jet in carb was clogged with debris. Stupid debris.
12:45PM Finish my driveway, front walk, and the neighbors house in 1/57th the amount of time it took me to do the 20' patch of driveway with the shovel
1:00PM Worlds best wife makes me grilled cheese with pepperoni slices and split pee soup. Man, do I ever love this woman.
1:30PM Need, and deserve, nap.
1:30PM-4:30PM Napped and piddled around house. What do you want to do for dinner.
5:00PM Dinner at Muldoon's Irish Pub. Have Meatloaf with trimmings, side order of fried mac and cheese, and at least three gallons of Stella Artois
7:00PM Back home again:
7:15PM Daily Blog. Must stay disciplined.
7:30PM Click submit. Day can't get any better than this.

Good night, and stay warm!

Sounds like a decent ending to the day. Hope you don't get any grief at work.

The snow pretty much sucks up here in Noblesville. When are we going to go out for those drinks?

Tell me when! I've got class tomorrow night (if not cancelled), poker Friday night (if not cancelled), and dinner with wife's friends Sunday night. I'm pretty much free Monday through Wednesday of next week if you're up for it.

Put a fuel filter in the fuel line. I have them on all my gas powered tools. Cheaper in the long run. ;D

Good advice, JoeBob. I've got one on my mower and pressure washer, but not the snow thrower. Unfortunately it probably wouldn't have helped in this case...seemed like varnish in the carb bowl was flaking loose.
