Shared on Tue, 03/06/2007 - 07:01Having spent a lot of time as a PC gamer before getting a 360, patches don't really bother me. I think that 360 owners get the best of both worlds, with updates to fix glitches and balance problems, but with a much simpler system than PC games. I only have one big gripe. I have no idea what the patches do. How hard is it to have a pop up box that says something like:
"This patch:
- Reduces the grenade-tag distance.
- Fixes the level balancing issue for Paladins.
- Updates the stats for the Saints (who knew they'd be good?).
- Fixes the walk-walk glitch on the Gultch map.
- Makes it impossible for you to join MP games."
As much as I like the first four, I still haven't played much GoW since one of their patches did #5. I understand that the issue has since been fixed, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Seriously, if a patch kills glitches, wait until the patch has loaded and then say: "We killed glitches x, y, and z." While developer blogs and websites can help get the word out, that's a step backward to the days where you'd have to occassionally check the websites for your games to see if there were patches out. Just tell us what you're doing and use common sense when fixing things. Keep us informed and we'll keep you honest.
