You Won't Like the Answer

Okay, first off, I'm only writing about the Virginia Tech Massacre in relation to accusations that video games were to blame.  Both JT and Dr. Phil out-and-out lied when they claimed that video games "trained" the murderer.  After all, when they made their statements, all that they knew about the suspect was that he was male.  Any other conclusions at that time were completely fabricated.

The problem is, that people want to know "why?"  They want to know what made this guy into a killer.  They want to make sense of the whole situation.  They want to control it so as not to let it happen again.  The answers are simple, but not satisfying.  The answer to "why?" is that the killer used some bizarre irrational thought and treated it as if it was rational.  It made sense to him, but he was off his rocker.  The way to make sense of the situation is to understand that since the gunman was irrational, it will never make sense to a rational and sane person.

So the answers are murky and unsatisfying.  The killer was in his own crazy world and it will never make sense.  As to trying to recognize the signs of such an individual so as to prevent it, good luck.  You've got to come up with something better than "loner," "weird," and "troubled."  Almost everyone encompasses one or all of these traits when viewed by someone else.

Its odd...but after reading alot about the killer and his views on life and why he did what he did...I understand him. And even agree with him on some points. Which kind of scares me. I dont condone killing innocent people by any means. But I understand his hatred.

I agree Rob. It wasn't like the killer had cos-dressed into Masterchief, or anything.

It's okay that you understand the person. The motives just don't add up to mass murder for a sane person. Also, the more I hear about the killer, the less this case is related to any videogames.
