Like many of us I spent the better part of my evening loading and unloading my crackdown disc waiting for that update what would finally let me download the Halo 3 beta. At one point around 9pm or so I finally gave up on having any quality time with the Halo and loaded up my save of Crackdown which I really hadn't played for a while even though I downloaded the extra content last week. After a little while running around the city and picking up a couple of secret orbs I started to remember why Crackdown took up so much of my gaming time back when it came out. It's a really fun sandbox game.
I tried out a few of the new modes like the racing and the new orb hunts events. The orb hunt was pretty neat. You basically get 100 orbs that show up on your radar and you have to pick them up and quickly as possible. I even spent a little time hunting for those elusive 3 agility orbs that I'm sure by now were accidentally left out of my copy of the game! (Everyone has felt this way at least once right?)
I read a lot of posts on bungies forums yesterday bashing the game. Though I'm sure it was mostly angst ridden 15 year olds who couldn't live without the Halo 3 beta for another second! I can't see how anyone really gave this game a chance could hate it. Maybe I'm just a sandbox guy who would rather make my own fun than stick to a solid goal all the time.
