Shared on Sun, 05/20/2007 - 19:44So the day starts out as a usual Sunday morning-- waking up later than we wanted, etc... with one minor difference- xbox 360s on the BRAIN. See, our good buddy and clanmate Meef got us thinking last night. Let me explain.
Jonny and I (jonny12gauge is my hubby, in case you were wondering..) have been thinking about getting 360s. (Yes, we are a 2 xbox household, and if one gets a 360, the other does too!) We knew that was going to be an expense that we would definately make happen this year because of Halo 3 coming out. Meef found himself frustrated by not finding many stores in that area to have any Elites in stock, and this is what I truly wanted... This made us move a little faster to go get two Elites because eventually they are going to quit making the cool black ones, right?
So Saturday, I did my research online and checked Circuit City, Walmart, Target, EBgames and Gamestop (I'm probably missing another one or two in there) and they were either:
a) sold out; or
b) sold in bundles costing way too much $$.
After explaining my findings to Jonny last night, we were pretty much stuck with the fact we would have to get a regular 360 premium- not that there's anything wrong with it, but we really wanted Elites. BUT, after checking our clan forum, we found that Meef did indeed get one at one of the stores that said "sold out" earlier- he just had to call--- hooray- hope again. So first thing this morning- as we woke up entirely too late on a Sunday morning- we started making calls to the same store Meef had luck with. It turns out that there was ONE Elite at two different Circuit City stores... so Jonny and I look at each other and exclaim "ROAD TRIP"!!
So making an entirely too long of a story a little shorter-- we drove to the first store, bought our Elite.. Extremely satisfied, we hop back in the car, drive about 25 miles across the county to the other store, and guess what!!?!! Some guy had popped into the store 20 minutes before we had gotten there and bought it!!!! UGH!!!! So... we came home with one Elite, very unsatisifed. (Jonny's even a nice enough guy that he said he wouldn't rent Crackdown to play the Beta until we both had one.... very sweet- or very smart- he knew I'd be furious!) Well, I decided to take a stab in the dark and call yet another store that doesn't even mention the XBOX 360 Elite on their website. Sure enough- they have ONE!! And it's only 10 minutes down the road!! Woo hooo!!! So we rush back to the car, march right into the store and buy that Elite. Uhhh, satisfaction again... What was more satisfying was the fact that this Elite was $70 cheaper with the in-store warranty. Well, that's a LOT of money, so we figured we will take that first one back and wait for store #2 to get their supply in. So we come home, get some stuff done around the house.. I got to thinking again- scary isn't it? Well, I called another store from the same chain of store #2 which isn't too far away to see if THEY have any in stock (this way we wouldn't have to wait another week or two to get this whole thing taken care of..) They did- THEY HAD 2!! So Jonny ran out there after dinner and just returned with another Elite with the $70 savings. Now all we have left is to return Elite #1 sometime this week to the store and tell them to suck it! (Oh wait, that's Profanity's line )
Who knew that if my gaming brain hadn't been thinking for my human brain that we could have driven 20 miles today instead of 75 trying to get two Elites?!? All I know is that I am extremely happy again. We went to Blockbuster and they are all out of Crackdown so there's still no Beta playing for us. In fact, we now have two Elites and no games to play on them... haha! But at least I can look at it and say "ooooooh, it's so perrrrrty"..
