Summertime: Let the flakiness begin!

It's summertime! Time for baseball, reading, summer reality TV, and hockey playoffs.  I live in Ottawa, home of the Senators, who are in the Stanley Cup final; however I am a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Being a bit Leafs fan, I find it hard to listen to all the homer Sens crap day in and day out. Hopeflly they will be knocked up soon. Sound like sour grapes? Not really. A cousin in law of mine plays for the Ducks. Never met him, but I want him to win.

For the 50 book challenge, I have recently finished one reread (Terry Pratchet: Interesting Times) and one new one: April Fool by William Deverell.  Terry Pratchet is a great humourist, I love his Discworld Series.  April Fool was a pretty good whodunit.  The hero is a Canadian bit time defence attorney who was told to retire or he would  have a heart attack. So this stuffed shirt leaves the big city to be a goat farmer on some small island off the BC coast. Married the hippie woman next door, and proceeded to have a wonderful, staid retirement.  There is a logging company threatening to clear cut the forests around where the hero lives.  He wakes up one morning to find that one of his old clients is charged with rape and murder, and his wife is 50 feet up a tree to prevent to logging.  Will he get his wife back, save his client AND the forest?! Dum, dum DUM!

For flaky reality TV: So You Think You Can Dance is back on! Whoot! As well as Canada's Next Top Model. Pirate Master is a new offering from CBS. We'll see how that one plays out.  I find how they edit reality TV to be facinating. How they make villians, and heroes, and how they create game winning edits. I will blog about that later: right now I have a wee girl who has flipped on her tummy and can't get back!  Any reality TV lovers out there? I can't be the only one!

I love the Amazing race, but it is no longer on. The season is over for it. Used to watch Survivor but it got kinda old. I only watch a handful of TV shows, 24, Heroes, occasionally Lost. Hubby is a huge movie freak so we rent and re-watch alot of movies. What is Pirate Master?

Pirate Master is a show they have on to replace Survivor over the summer. People play pirate, get loot, and cut each other's throat!

On the Lot (FOX) is a surprisingly good show. All of the directors in the contest are pretty good at what they do. Pirate Master really does fill the Survivor fix. The one I hate, Big Brother, is coming back on. I have to say, So You Think You Can Dance is the only reality show that you can really tell how emotionally invested the dancers are, especially when they lose. And though not a reality show, Aardman (Wallace & Grommit) started an American version of "Creature Comforts."
