Shared on Fri, 06/15/2007 - 10:36I've actually been back for a while, but work arranged for some much needed Unix training, so I've been doing that. The shop is moving to a new OS based on Unix, so all the support staff needs to be retrained. The only question is whether I can get proficient enough to keep my job, or... I had better wrap my mind around learning this brand of Unix – no alternatives!
The trip to Oregon was awesome. As a Floridian (aka flatlander) I really wanted to see some three dimensional landscape – hills, mountains, valleys. Boy did I get that desire fulfilled and more. Just taking some trails through Ecola and Oswald West state parks I think I pooched at least one of my knees. But, wow, loads to see and do. Like a statewide Disney park for flatlanders. Yes, several weeks later I'm still processing the trip.
Although I took about 30 gigs (!) of photos, I haven't finished processing much of them. I have posted some to a couple sets on my Flickr account - http://flickr.com/photos/notstyro/
While I was out and about in Oregon apparently there was the public beta of Halo 3. I'm not really big on Halo, but I would have liked to see if series was much improved now that it will be on the 360. I guess I'll just have to wait until it goes to rental.
Gamefly sent me 'Earth Defense Force 2017' and 'WarTech: Senko Ronde.' Funny, I don't recall adding that last one to my queue, but I now need some time to play these. Maybe I should check some review sites to find out what they are really about.
The picture above is Crater Lake. Such a beautiful and serene place is hard to describe adequately - it must be visited to be appreciated.
