Shared on Thu, 06/28/2007 - 08:32We have some sort of tropical front moving through South Florida today, so the weather has took a turn for the wet. Fortunately it is just rain and some wind, no thunder & lightning, so I can get some computer/360 stuff done. But I need to go out and return a DVD rental, so I guess I'll get wet riding the bike.
On the 360 front I tried playing Earth Defense Force 2017. I would guess the developers were maybe thinking of creating an Ed Wood movie styled game, because it struck me being very hokey & tongue-in-cheek. The game looks very much like original xbox fare, instead of polished & almost photo realistic 360 style. Basically, giant ants from outer space start to invade the world and you have to defend the Earth. As you kill the giant ants they drop armor, health, and weapons upgrades (why were they carrying those? Who knows). It'll be on its way back to GameFly very shortly.
Next up will be WarTech: Senko Ronde. From the write up on GameFly it looks interesting, if not a bit complex without a manual. These game rental outfits should be required to supply either the original manual or a photocopy of the original manual with the rental. Without the manual the game learning curve becomes a farking mountain.
While going through the finances I discovered that I still have the game rental package from Blockbuster. Seeing all the new games suddenly on the horizon I went out yesterday and rented Shadowrun. Based on the blog posts and Internet chatter the game should be good. I'll have to make a good amount of time for that today.
I think the Overlord demo finally downloaded, so it is also on the schedule. From an article posted on Ars, it appears that Rhianna Pratchett (daughter of the excellent writer Terry Pratchett) wrote and co-designed Overlord. If that doesn't make me anticipate a great game, all the Internet chatter also points to a great game experience. We shall see...
My last day of freedom until next Tuesday, I might as well make the most of it by playing instead of blogging.
