El Cheapo!

Sorry it has been some time since my last blog, but work, the move and getting situated, and a lack of writing inspiration have worked against my posting new material. No Mas! El Cheapo has returned! I say El Cheapo because it dawned on me over the past few weeks. I am a cheap bastard.

I think my first clue was when the gas station closest to my gym upped the price and got rid of their largest cup of their fountain drinks. Fountain drinks after a hard workout have become my carrot on a stick for me. I hate working out, but when i finally topped the scales at 250 lbs in January, I decided I needed to slim down and at least try to return to my VMI fighting weight of old. Fountain drinks worked for me. A $.69 32 oz. diet Dr Pepper reward for lifting for an hour, treading water for 30 mins and running a mile somehow made PT not seem so bad. Now I'm paying $.89 for a 20 oz. diet soda and for some reason I was pissed.

Not just a little pissed mind you. I was grinding my teeth for the whole 30 minute drive back from the ACAC and spouting obscenities over a $.20 cent price hike and a 12 oz. reduction. I am El Cheapo. If you find yourself agreeing with me, you might be an El Cheapo too.

Other examples I stumbled apon while doing some fiscal soul searching are: I save sauce packets from taco bell, and always ask for extra ones. I save unused straws from fast food joints ( I have no idea why...i never use them). When I used to smoke, I'd smoke half a cigarette, put it out, and smoke the rest later. When I fill up my tank, I turn off the pump, but I still squeeze and shake the nozzle for those precious few drops. I always ask for doggie bags.

These are just a few. Many more thrifty habits exist in my lifestyle. I just haven't thought of them. How cheap are you? What sort of cheap tricks do you use? Post em on here. I'd like to know to better my cheap ass.
