Last month the family went to St. Louis for a wedding. While there, we toured the Bud factory. I got to sample some things I normally would never have tried. Since returning from that trip, I have been having a couple of beers at night while playing video games. I have been mostly buying the cheap stuff, Natural Light. Yesterday I am driving by a little shop that sells cigars and specialty beers and thought I might try something different. I went in and the guy said that they had over 200 different beers. I jokingly said that it would be nice to have sampler 6 packs and he told me to make one. So in the next couple of days I am going to share with you what I bought and how it tasted.
First up was from a place called Left Hand Brewing Company . Now I picked this one strictly for the bottle. It is a Milk Stout and had a cow on the label. My wife loves cows so I picked it. Bad idea. Turns out, I hate stouts. I gave my wife first drink. She just about spewwed. She is very picky about her tastes so I figured she was just being silly. No she wasn't. It was the most awful tasting beer I have ever had. Imagine dirty burnt coffee taste in a beer. It was horrible. I will never try a stout again. On a scale of 1-5, this beer gets a negative 5. Lesson learned.
Next was a beer called Franziskaner Weissbier. This is imported by a company called Spaten. Now this was a good beer. Of course I was just coming off of drinking horse piss so anything would taste good at this point. On a scale of 1-5, I would give this beer a 4. Two more beers will be tried tonight.
