Give It Away, Now

I noticed other 2o2p members mentioning the "Joy of Goozex."  Goozex is a matching service for game trading.  You want a game, someone else doesn't, and they send you your game.  The fee is $1 USD per trade, plus you pay for shipping and handling of your own games that you trade away.  It is essentially an inventory tracking system.  And this month is extra-special because trades in July are free of the $1 service charge.

I keep old games thinking they're something I'll play later.  Who am I kidding?  I'll never play most of these again.  So I started trading PS2, PSP, Xbox, and Wii games.  After several trades out and in, I'm really pleased.  Not only do I not want those games, I feel better about unloading my collection to gamers.  This is important, because if you sequester a collection, no one gets any fun out of it, and you certainly don't want to have a collection when you die.  I know of people who play all of their collection randomly.  Those people are better collectors than I, because they're "exercising it."

So I threw my entire Dreamcast collection up for trade.  The hottest games, like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (equivalent to a $50 trade), went in minutes!  My Gameboy Advance and Playstation games are going next.  That's putting my collection to work.  I've discovered that I need to put requests in for relatively new games, because they will most likely get sent before I even get around to buying them.
