Shared on Wed, 07/18/2007 - 00:37I picked up NCAA 08 today. This series was by far my favorite game(s) around 2000-2003. It got to the point where 85% of my gaming was that year's version of NCAA. I played Dynasty after Dynasty trying to build up my college football juggernaut. The past few years have been dissapointing, as I felt the gameplay wasn't as tight as it used to be. Perhaps it was perception, perhaps I was just getting bored of it. It didn't matter, I continued to be the sucka EA preys after and bought the game year after year after year. This year is my first foray into "next-gen" NCAA. I've played a handful of games and so far so good. The game play seems to be more enjoyable, the players seem to behave a bit smarter, the football overall seems to be better. Of course, however, EA still has to program a fair amount of "cheese" into the game. By "cheese" I mean the instances where the computer decides that it's had enough of an ass kicking, and then proceeds to do no wrong. The defense jumps on every play I call, no matter if it's run or pass. They start shedding their blocks like LT on steroids, and I can no longer do anything on offense. My OL starts deciding, one by one, that they no longer have any football acumen. I watch replay after replay where my Right Guard (for example, as this phenomenon is not contained by merely one retarded lineman) decides to let his man through un touched and just runs in place, sometimes in circles if he's feeling frisky, just looking for someone to hit. Alas, the only person that gets hit is either my poor QB or RB.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is an example of EA's NCAA in-game cheese. Have you experienced it in all it's glory?
