Shared on Fri, 07/27/2007 - 10:32So unfortunately my theory about the crowd was correct. Normally the first two days of the convention would be relatively care-free and you could wonder around the floors w/ ease. Well it seems those days are over, as attendance is growing to epic proportions. Yesterday's crowd was more that I have experience on a weekday, although not up to the craziness that occurs on Saturday but very comparable.
The day started off by getting in line for exclusives. First off was to Gentle Giant, to get LBplayer75 his requested item, unfortunately they were not prepared and would not sell their exclusives until later in the day. From previous experience, their company is the worst at handling these situations. However, they have an awesome product line, so people will take the abuse. I will post in the Halo 3 forums of the Halo items they had displayed. So off to Hot wheels for their exclusive of the TV series Batmobile. At their booth, they had the original car itself, pretty awesome to see, especially if you were a fan of the tv show. After an hour wait, I was off to roam the rest of the convention. I will try to take a picture of the mere size of the convention hall but there is a lot to see. Checked out the various booths and there is a lot to describe but w/ my limited time, I will post a link to my pictures to save the time. Although I have not uploaded them at this time. So keep on checking on my blog for the link.
After quickly checking the booths and picking up some free swag, it was off to the panels. Other than that convention floor, there are various panels and workshops throughout the convention rooms. Movie companies come to Comic Con to promote their upcoming releases, usually something that would appeal to the mass crowd, however it appears that they have decided to promote what they can. First off was to Paramount's panel, they were to promote a few movies, which included Iron Man and Indy IV. As I was waiting in line, w/ less then a hundred people in front of me, they decided to cap the line. WTF? I had never had this happen to me in the past four years. Mind you, I believe the conference room holds at least 9,000+. So I waiting in line, as the Lionsgate panel was next and Ms. Alba was one of the guest. Damn is she hot. She was their to promote her new movie, Good luck Chuck, which is a comedy w/ Dane Cook. Next movie they promoted was a cowboy movie which stars Russel Crowe and Christian Bale, sadly they were not there. Ben Foster and Peter Fonda were their to promote the movie. It looks pretty interesting, especially w/ the cast. Next was a horror movie from Clive Davis, he was a little out of it and it was hilarious to hear him talk. It took him almost ten minutes to explain an simple question about the title of his movie. People started laughing, as he would forget the question. The cast included Vinnie Jones, Bradley Cooper and the lovely Leslie Bibb. Last movie of the panel was Saw IV. The producer, director and actor Tobin Bell were there to promote. They should a clip of the movie and it appears that it is on par w/ the rest of the series. Also Saw V is in the works.
Looks like I have to cut this short, as Gaius just text me to let me know that they are letting people in early. Another sign it is going to be a hectic day. They usually do not let people in until 10. Sigh.. I will update more on day 1 later tonight.
