Bushed, Broke, and Burned

I walked and wheeled and dealed from 8:00 am until 5:00 PM today; mid-90s and 60% humidity. Because of the threat of rain and the heat, there weren't as many sellers as usual, but there weren't as many shoppers, either. A lot of these guys know me, know what I look for, and give me deals because I may drop three or four hundred in one place if the price is right. I have two favorite sellers, but one wasn't here today.

This guy from Missouri is on of my regulars and will hold stuff back for me. I bought an ancient peddle tractor from him. It is missing the steering wheel, but I paid 15 for it and a restorer will give me at least 90 for it. I hang them from the ceiling with braided wire; looks cool and is kinda my trademark. Not many dealers take full advantage of the airspace. Just recently I have sold two chandeliers and two old bikes that were flying through the air.

I found a painted dresser with great lines. It had been marked at a hundred, and I paid 50. If I put 150 on it, it will be out the door within days. I also bought a bench made from an antique bed, one double and two single wash tub stands, 565 worth of Mexican wrought iron. Again I get it wholesale and have two sources here. My original source was bringing things other than plant stand back from Mexico. He is on extended vacation at the Heartbreak Hotel.Other thigs I remember: cool dovetailed box, an old saz, trombone, bariton and French horn. They are wall hangers, but I sell them as fast I can find them. One very nice telephone table. Anew seller sold me a 1940s headset that an operator would use, and on and on. My truck is piled high and laced down. I'm working a little tomorrow, then I'm outta here. I am pooped. I have my digital so I'll try to take a picture which demonstrates why I35 will be dangerous tomorrow.

Later,

Kentucky Fried Twister.

No, you need someone with you that knows their stuff. There are those that would take advantage of you.

You sure know your stuff! I love going to flea markets and antique dealers but I am too scared to actually purchase anything, as I am afraid I will get ripped off. Guess I should have more faith in mankind.
