As a reminder, our Company policies prohibit personal use of internet,
e-mail and instant messaging while you're working. Company resources,
laptops, PCs, phones, etc. should be used for business purposes only.
Personal internet activity including video or audio streaming, personal
shopping, and viewing adult content are strictly forbidden. Please refer
to Policy B-23 (Internet Code of Conduct) and B-24 (E-mail Code of Conduct)
for more details.

In the past we have monitored personal use, but have a new tool, LIGHTSPEED
, which improves the monitoring and recording capabilities and gives very
good detail of personal web browsing, e-mail and IM activities. The
Information Systems (IS) Department has implemented the first stage of
Lightspeed, also allowing network monitoring for bandwidth utilization,
security breaches, viruses, spyware and malware.

Please make sure you're in compliance with Company policies and DO NOT
conduct personal web, e-mail and IM activities at work. Contact me if you
have any questions.

Well.... The big guys there sure aren't members of 2o2p! Then they'd realize how addicting and important it is to check forums and news all day long!

I guess they didn't read the article that the average person wastes 2 hours a day doing personal internet stuff. Perhaps you should forward that to them :)

So, is that just so they can cover their ass or are they actually enforcing it? I always love the email broadcast being sent, but it is hardly ever followed up with a printed doc that you must sign as acceptance of the terms and fax or snail mail to some HR office some place... Man, laws and regulations are pains in the ass...

Just use more sick time to cover up for those lost hours of web surfing and forum browsing.
