The answer is "no"... so don't ask

If you ask yourself if you feel like working out, the answer will probably be "no".  If when the alarm goes off at 5:45am and you ask yourself if you really feel like going out and running a few miles, the answer will probably be "no".  I don't know if it's that metaphorical devil on my shoulder, or that "animal" part of the brain that tells me I should save my energy for a real flight or fight situation.  I've learned the solution is to not even ask myself the question, "do I feel like exercising?"

It's essentially the Nike slogan: "Just Do It".  Momentum is a powerful force.  It only takes a couple of seconds of effort to swing your legs out of bed and stand up, and once you do, well, you might as well keep on moving.

It's now been five weeks of getting up and running in the morning.  My weight has remained steady over the last two weeks (I'm still down 10 lbs overall), but I've been eating a lot of left over cake from my son's and daughter's birthday parties and a night doesn't go by where I don't split a bottle of wine with the wife or have a few beers.

@th3midnighter - I need a lifestyle change I can stick with. The beer and the cake stay. :D

I have the same prob. Every time the alarm goes off I just want to say Screw it and go back to bed. But once the feet hit the ground, you might as well get up at that point. Keep up the losing.

More than the running, cutting down on the beers and cake will have a bigger impact on your weight.

I can't run in the mornings - ugh, makes me nauseous! Running around a lake in the park definitely makes a workout more bearable.
