Forfeit Wins......Worse than a Loss

I absolutely despise Forfeit wins. You know what I am talking about. You are in a tournament and for whatever reason the other team cannot complete the match. It's not the way we win it that I dislike so much, a win is a win. It is the CRAP you have to go through to get it. I would rather lose - at least it doesn't make my brain hurt so much.

Here are some examples of my experiences with Forfeit Wins.

1. Which way did he go? - The other team shows, but they are short one, sometimes two, players. Then the discussion begins - Can he get on later? Can we reschedule? Can we use a sub that isn't on our roster? How about we just go 4v3? Each one of these questions takes at LEAST 20 mins to discuss and the volume of the lobby increases like crazy. I have a 20 second fix: Players missing? FORFEIT - Screenshot - Goodbye. Close Lobby. Submit FW.

2. Mystery Man - The other team shows, but they have a player with a name that is not quite the one on the roster. They might use an underscore instead of a space, or a 4 instead of an A - but it isn't the registered name. Rules for most tourney's are pretty strict about it: GamerTag must match exactly. I check out their profile - zero points...hmmmm....only played one game?....hmmmmm.....The discussion begins - Oh it's the same. Yeah it looks the same. Well, who really cares? He just changed it yesterday. Screw the rules, no one really cares. Eventually it will come out that the real guy on the roster couldn't/wouldn't show so they made up a tag last minute to match it as best as they could. To avoid this crap and teach them not to try it in the future, here is the solution: Roster tag doesn't match? FORFEIT - Screenshot - Goodbye. Close Lobby. Submit FW.

3. Drop it Like its NOT - Teams show, match starts, within two mins the other teams server shuts down - 20 mins later restart, same thing - repeat about 5 times with each one of their players and mix in a bunch of whining. Offer to host, listen vaguely as they bitch about the loss of host and the unfairness of it all! oh cry me a river emobitch, go chant over your modem and try and get your server back up. Eventually you: FORFEIT - Screenshot - Goodbye. Close Lobby. Submit FW. But you feel really bad, cause everyone has bad server days, and this could have been the match that got that team SPONSORED man! whatever.

4. We don't need no stinkin' Time Zones! - You get all ready for the match, and open the room [or wait for the invite], and it never comes. You look and see that the other team isn't even on! This one sucks the worst because the drama occurs AFTER the FW is submitted. You take your screenshot of the time and they fact that they are offline, submit FW and think about the next round. Oh but WAIT! Now the other team starts sending you invites to play hours later. You jump in the room to find they are ready for the match. Uh dude, the match was for 8pm. Yeah, it's 8pm. No man, 8pm CST. Not it wasn't it was for PST. Dude, read the rules...blah, blah, blah. I actually had a guy one time tell me that EST was the only recognized time and used SNL as an example. That the fact that SNL was in New York mean EST overuled ALL. WTFWTFWTF~!!!!!

So tonite I have a CPL match - the team's record shows a no show from last night's match - FR has not been accepted. I am planning a trip by the ABC store on the way home to insure I have enough "Filter Juice" to keep calm and sane.
