OK, I'm not much of a blogger or a storyteller, but find that other peoples amusement at my expense works best.  Here is my first try...

Yesterday I closed on my co-op.  During my walkthrough, checking everything out, I decided to check out the attic.  Seeing some piece of electronic equipment on a shelf, I work my way over to check it out.   I get to the edge of the floorboards and lean over to check it out.  It's just out of reach, so I lean over a little and slide my foot over about an inch...an inch too far, my foot slips off the board and goes through the floor(ceiling?) down to my knee.  I really wish I had a picture of my face at that moment, it had to be complete horror!   The insulation they used is that spray stuff that kinda looks like wool. So I go downstairs with my cousin, who is my real estate agent, to check out the damage.

We come down the attic steps and go into the living room, where it looks like I murdered a sheep!  This fluffy white wool-like material is everywhere!  The damage to the ceiling is not terribly bad, about a one and a half foot square of sheetrock and plaster, easy enough to fix, but I am pacing around in shock, mumbling and cursing to myself, not believing the sheer STUPIDITY of what I had just done...and I didn't even pay for the place yet!  So I start plotting what kind of lie I can tell everyone to make me not look too bad, but decide on the truth.  I'll just take my lumps and laugh at it in the future.

Anyway, I get over the shock of it and go to the closing, where all went well.  After the closing I decide to go to the store to get some garbage bags and cleaning material to clean up the murder scene.  I get back to my new place, first time opening the door with my own keys, and the key gets stuck in the door.  Again comes the mumbling and cursing.   I try jiggling the key while pulling it out ever so slightly, and the entire cylinder comes out of the doorknob with the key.  At this point all I can do is laugh to myself, thankful that I have a deadbolt to secure the place until my friend, who is a locksmith, can come over to change the locks.

So now I am a Home Owner, or as my brother calls it...a HOLE Owner...and the stories have already begun.   Hopefully I will not have any more of these to write about any time soon!  So, as a First Time Blogger and First Time Home Owner...that's all for now.
