Since I Opened the Door: Fred2008

This should help you guys get to know me.  I like change, I like common sense and above all - I like bucking the system a bit.  For the same reasons I voted for Ross Perot in the first election I could vote.... This is from the Fred website.....

"I'm one of tens of thousands of Americans supporting Sen. Fred Thompson for President. I'd like you to join with me and Fred and all our friends in changing the political landscape in 2008. Senator Thompson has entered the Presidential race, and to show my support I signed on as a "Friend of Fred Thompson." I'm writing to ask you to consider doing the same.

Senator Thompson has been a prosecutor, a Senator, and yes, he's had a couple of movie roles. More importantly, he's exactly what we need right now - a consistent conservative who can unite our nation and help lead us in fixing our problems, not exploiting them for political purposes.

He's plain-spoken and means what he says. On the immigration bill, for example, Fred calls it like he sees it:  "No matter how much lipstick Washington tries to slap onto this legislative pig, it's not going to win any beauty contests. We should scrap this "comprehensive" immigration bill until the government can show the American people that we have secured the borders -- or at least made great headway."

On folks in Washington who want to raise our taxes:  "They only want to target the rich. They're off target again, just like they were with the alternative minimum tax. Remember, that was supposed to just target the rich. A word of advice to anyone in the middle class - don't stand anywhere near that target."

On leadership:  "We're going to have to be more focused, we're going to have to be smarter and we're going to have to be more determined and we're going to have to be more together as a nation than we've ever been before."

Fred is going to do things differently. He wants to focus on returning to our founding principles of self-governance, free markets and the rule of law. Those are ideas we're all invested in - focused on building a stronger, more competitive and innovative America that remains a beacon for the world today and for the next generation.

I'm supporting Fred Thompson for President and I hope you will too. Visit www.Fred08.com to sign up. Thanks for your interest. I hope you'll join me and support Fred Thompson for President."

I gotta admit that he has often intrigued me. His views on the political front are fairly consistent with mine and his plain speaking has definitiely intrigued me in a political setting where beating around the bush seems to be expected.

Ole Fred has a few things to prove to me before he gets my vote, but he leads the pack over everyone else in my opinion. I think he should pick Sam Waterson to be his running mate. One a staunch conservative, the other a humanitarian (though, Sam is an Independent). That'd be a good ticket.

That would be a nice balance Soup. We need something outside the typical Repub/Dem stuff. I am more of a Libertarian....and that is a lonely place to be....lol

If there is a Clinton/Obama ticket it doesn't matter what he or any other republican does. Just my opinion.

I don't know. In my experience those that are not Democrats do get out and vote - they just don't scream and yell about it a lot beforehand. We'll see.... I would be pretty depressed if Hillary got in. And Obama is great, but he needs more experience....that whole comment about sending China and Saudi Arabia to talk to people for us....creeped me out.

Yeah, I'd hate to say it, but I don't think Hillary would be a bad President in regards to Foreign Policy. Domestic policy would be a whole nother matter, but I think she'd be strong on foreign policy.

Im just waiting for Bush to change the laws so he can run for a 3rd term. At this point, it would not surprise me in the least. I still dont know who has a better chance of winning in America..a Black Man or a White woman.

He can't. Takes a Constitutional Amendment, which, only Congress can inact, and the Republicans no longer control. Though, I wouldn't put it past the Dems to do such a thing once they regain control of the White House, so that Bubba can run again.

Fred agrees with the war and wants to keep us in Iraq, that's more than enough for me to shun him.

I just hope whoever wins figures out how to get our men and women out of Iraq pretty darn quick.

As a Libertarian myself, I find I'm more aligned with Ron Paul.

Anyone who says that they will do things differently usually ends up doing nothing because neither party has any loyalty for him.

Fred has my vote for one main reason. He's the only candidate that can show he even remotely comprehends the original Constitutional role and limits of the central government as the founding fathers and the Federalist papers indicate. Every other clown is a career-minded crusader out to cure every social ill that no one asked them to solve with an unlimited supply of other people's tax money. That's just not on the job description. period.

I love how people think that the answer to this war is surrender. Ever wonder if the troops you so gleefully and fervently want to bring home WANT to leave it unfinished and surrender? I bet the vast majority would answer with a loud: HELL NO!!!!! Ron Paul was interesting...until it came to the "surrender" mentality. I have been watching/listening to Fred, and I have been hoping he would finally throw his hat in the ring. He has my vote hands down. He is a Reagan conservative, strong on the War on Terror, and I truly think he would LEAD both, this Nation and the Republican party back to what made us great. He is an originalist and we desperatly need that. I think a great ticket would be he and Giuliani as VP.
