Shared on Thu, 10/04/2007 - 13:25Well, come Tuesday afternoon, I'll be ready to be released as a new version of me, sans the 'ol gall bladder. I saw the surgeon yesterday, and after taking a look at the various reports and films that came from the several emergency room visits, it was a cut-and-dry case to get it removed. By his description, there's a stone in there that - when I eat, and specifically a semi- to high-fat food - gets squeezed up into the exit duct as the gall bladder tries to expel the stored bile into the small intestine. That causes pain, which causes the need for much IV pain killers.
Tuesday around noon I'll be under the knife, and probably stay overnight at the hospital. Then home on Wednesday and recovery. My surgeon was uber cool when I asked how long I'd be out of work. First he asked what type of work...I told him I was a desk jockey. Even with that, he said "as long as you want, but at least a week. I'll have a follow-up with you at the 10-day mark." So...I figured that was a great point to use...10-days it is.
Soo...Halo 3, check. BioShock on Hard, check. Orange Box, check. Comfy couch, check.
Maybe this won't be all bad. Although, saying that, I did have to turn down the chocolate souflette (or however you spell it) at lunch today...and it killed me. The thing looked SOOOOOO good, but had "You'll be in the ER tonight" written all over it.
See ya'll on XBL in the upcoming days and weeks.
