I bought the vga cable for the 360 the other day thinking that I could connect it to my laptop. A buddy of mine from Best Buy said it would work but for the life of me I can't figure out how. I connected the cables but not picture. Anyone have an idea on how to make it work or if it will work?

I tried it but it doesn't work. To my knowledge, vga ports in laptops are not for input signals, only to output its display.

I'd bet the same as mac. Typically to get a signal in to a laptop you need to either have a high-end video card which most don't, or, a TV tuner type card, which can be had with various connection. I think your best bet is to return it.

as far as I know the vga port on a laptop is an output only. Not an input.

nice, chalk another f@#k up for JB! Yeah I rock! Guess I'll have to go but a $300 dollar LCD for the $30 cable, oh well needed one anyway.

Laptop VGA ports are OUTPUT only. It's so you can hook the laptop up to a VGA monitor, not use your laptop as a monitor. What you need to get is the Adaptec GameBridge if you want to game on your laptop screen. I have one, it works well the only issue with it is it's standard def so 480p and it's 4x3 style, not wide screen. Other than that, if you travel, its very workable if you can't plug into the hotel TV. If you have a monitor now and want to share it between your laptop and 360, you need a KVM Switch. You can pick these up for about 20 bucks. T hey have a button on them to switch between VGA devices, in this case your 360 and your laptop. YOu can get 20" wide screen VGA LCD monitors now for under 300 bucks and 22" ones for under 400 bucks. I game on a Westinghouse 22" widescreen VGA monitor, it works great. Just watch sales, you can get computer LCD screens cheap these days.
