Actually the fight thing now goes over something like this. Johnny and Mark are smart enough to arrange their fist fight somewhere off school grounds. All the other kids find out via their cell phones. Bets are placed. Liberals make a big deal about the 'tragedy' of arranged fights on PBS and the internet in an attempt to find some way to make yet another govt. program to stop it (and get some more of our dough to spend). Ya know I love ya MTK and we realize there are exceptions (and kids don't go quail hunting anymore) but it doesn't resonate with people because it is over-simplified; it resonates because there is a lot of truth in it.

Very entertaining. I think MOST of us know that this was not scientific research. +1. I want to see fashion comparisons. That would be sobering.

I didn't write it, my dad sent it to me, it's an email thing. And yes, most are over the top, but I think the bigger picture is presented rather well.

#1 kinda happened in my highschool. Kid when hunting before school, and he even took his gun and everything home. He realized later he had 2 empty shells in his pocket and went up and threw them in the trash can, teacher saw them, he was arrested, SWAT was called in, he was expelled. Charges were later dropped after they realized he really was hunting and that 2 other students had gone with him and his father that morning. His expulsion was reduced to a 20 day suspension. Also after this, the school was locked down from 9am until 6:30 pm, we had to sit in the same classroom all this time, with police escorts if we had to use the bathroom. They seriously had to call the office and have an officer come to the class to escort me to take a piss. And this was in 1999.

I received an email yesterday from the high school reminding parents that hunting season has started and that guns need to be removed before coming to campus. LOL

I feel the point ressonates very well.....the world has changed dramatically in the last 30+ years; especially post 9/11. It's a sad commentary on how our society has "progressed".

Funny if a little over-exaggerated. Sobering that it is only a little bit. I read the last one about the cop saying if he expected trouble he would have brought the shot gun. Reminds me of a story in my family that fits in with your last two blogs. One of my great aunts (everyone is from Texas in my family, it is my hippie parents who rebelled and moved North. ;)) who had a niece who was described as a 'little slow' mentally got together with this guy who was abusive towards her. My aunt got a call one day that her niece was being abused. So she calls the sheriff and tells him he better get his butt down to my niece's house cause she is grabbing her shotgun and going over there right now (this is probably like 1937 or 47). Amazingly, she didn't even get arrested for it!

Yeah... a couple are over the top, but not by much. +1 in any case, cause most of them are spot on.

Scenario: Overrated situation and over simplified circumstances presented to look like actual facts. 1957: there were no blogs 2007: I disagree with most, if not all of the above, based on my experiences as a child of a two teachers, with a step-dad who was a middle and high school principle. You're entirely entitled to your opinion and I'm probably taking this too seriously, but most of these were very glib and over-simplifying the work and hard decisions that are made in a very challenging environment. Just my $0.02. I guess it's easier to oversimplify and poke fun than to examine and understand.

Great read Jeepy. It's scary to think about how society has changed. I sometimes fear for our young ones.
