Shared on Thu, 11/08/2007 - 09:16I ran into something yesterday that I found quite amusing. We all choose, in one way, shape, or form, what we want to do with our lives. It normally revolves around our passions, what we are good at doing, or both. I realized quite early - in my first 7th grade Genearl Science class specifically - that a scientific profession would be in my future. That single class molded what classes I focused on throughout high school, my eventual undergrad degree in Biotechnology, and then my choice of entering the biotech/pharmaceutical field.
However, there should come a time that no matter how much you love a certain field, that you realize it might just not be the thing for you. Case in point - our vet. We had to take both of our cats into the vet yesterday because, for quite some time now, we've had one of them habitually wetting right outside the litter box. It's out of the way and on a tiled floor, so it's more a nuisance than anything (I can say that as I'm not the one cleaning it up 99% of the time ). But here's the kicker. My wife told me that during the examinations, the vet had sneezed on several occassions. Trying to be funny, my wife remarked "What's wrong...allergic to cats?" The response....Yes. More than that...she's allergic to the vast majority of animals that comes through her office on a daily basis.
I don't know about the rest of you, but there are certain things that would lead me away from a profession. It's like a commercial airline pilot who's afraid of heights for crying out loud! Just struck me as both very funny and very odd at the same time.
