My job doesn't really lend itself to overtime, perhaps sneaking in an extra 15 minutes by punching in a little early or having last-minute problems to take care of that have never resulted in more than an hour of OT. So I asked for a favor, he granted it, and I pulled a couple 13 hour shifts at the end of last week to help out with Christmas shopping this year.
I found out Thursday that I was getting a little extra money on top of it. Not much, the equivalent of just over 9 hours of OT, but its free money so I can't complain. Apparently there have been salary policies in place at other facilities that HR somehow claims they never knew didn't exist at our facility. So to make up for the fact that we've never had these policies, they tossed us all a little extra money. Since I've only been with the company just over a year my amount wasn't as much as others who have been there several years, but I'm happy with what I got. Like I said, free money. and it will be on next week's check.
So this works out well. I'll be able to afford Rock Band for my son for Christmas AND be able to afford some MS points for DLC AND be able to give my son a little money so he can buy me a gift as well. Yay. Haha, I might even have enough for my cat to buy us presents too!
