Random Thoughts From My Childhood

For some reason I am feeling like writing a real blog – the following is true…

My parents never removed the crust from my bread.  Ever.

It really was uphill both ways to school and back – I lived on a hill and so was the school.

I had an accident less than one month after getting my driver’s license.  I rear-ended the janitor of the high school.

I got a ticket for “sitting on an inappropriate portion of the vehicle”.  The Army made it sound like I wouldn’t be able to get a security clearance because of that.

A babysitter I had got me hooked on The Jazz Singer from Neil Diamond.

One of my favorite chores as a child was chopping wood.

My favorite toy was legos.  I still have them.

After seeing Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade – I got my hair cut like River Phoenix.

One year at X-mas, Santa left me a note saying he was unable to put together the Hot Wheels parking garage he had given me.

One year on vacation – I woke up from a nap in the back of the car to find I had had one of “those” dreams…

To keep me quiet on a road trip from Oregon to Kansas, my grandma taught me how to knit.

My grandma made home-made noodles one day and to keep me from messing with them as they lay around the kitchen to dry – she told me they were poisonous.  I still believe her.

My Dad bought the wrong training wheels for my first bike.  They were approx. 4 inches off the ground.  He told me I only needed them to go around turns.

As a child I played baseball, soccer, tennis, golf and bowling.  Now I’m lucky if I get to watch those on TV.

When I was in 4th grade, I tried to freak out my girlfriend by yanking on her pants like I was going to pull them down during recess.  I must’ve tripped or something because they went all the way down.  She wasn’t wearing underwear.
