Shared on Tue, 01/01/2008 - 15:47And that means...vacation time resets!! WOOT!
I need a day off. I know we've had some long weekends with the holidays, but thats not quite the same I don't think. Its probably psychological, but I think days off when you're supposed to be at work are more relaxing. One nice thing about the company I work for is they start you off with 3 weeks vacation and 2 floating holidays. Nothing to complain about there, thats for sure.
Unfortunately I can't take any time off until this woman comes back from leave next month. The 2 temps in my department have gone several months without days off as well, being they need to be with their agencies a year before they get vacation time (from their agencies) so that sucks for them. The one who's been with us the longest (since July) has been handling a good sized workload, so I talked to my boss and she's getting a couple days off next week. Unpaid, but she's ok with that and she could use the break. I'm going to talk to my boss about the other guy who's been with us since September and get permission for him to take a couple days off the week after that, if he wants them. Again he won't get paid, but he could probably use a couple days off as well. January should be slow for us anyway (usually is) so I don't think being down a person this month will hurt us at all.
My boss has been able to take days off, however, and leave early at will. Must be nice to have coverage in all your areas. :) He oversees receiving and returns as well as the office, so he does have a lot on his plate and I certainly don't begrudge him getting some time off. Haha, here I am campaigning for a promotion in my blog. Guess I'm out of material.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for reading.
