Shared on Fri, 01/11/2008 - 08:12This was a weekend for getting things done. Unfortunately, not for slacking off and playing the 360.
On Wednesday I finally remembered that CC was having a big game blow-out. I decided to get some exercise and walk over (.75 to 1 mile, one-way). A whole three games for the 360 were still in the bin - Bomberman (meh), Bionicles Heroes (lame) and The Outfit (?). So I picked up The Outfit. It has something to do with WWII so it can't be horrible. Well, maybe I'll try it out when I get really bored with TF2, COD4 and C&C3.
It appears that Gamefly decided to send me Medal of Honor: Airborne. It should get here today or at least by next Tuesday. I'm guessing they didn't ship it out of Tampa.
As for the reason for the title....My iPod finally gave up and died. It just powers up, makes clicking noises, shows a folder error and a useless URL then powers down. No amount of coaxing would get it to do anything differently. The iMac and PCs can't identify the iPod when it is on USB. Since it is 2-3 years old I guess it has had a full life, for an iPod. I bought it when HP was getting out of the iPod selling business and refocusing on making somewhat useful systems. So yeah, it is an HP branded iPod. The fanbots working in the local Apple store won't even look at it beyond that stamp on the back.
I was royally pissed at first when I realized the 'pod died, but now I'm just kind of miffed. The reason for being so calm? MacWorld is next week! Starts on Monday, keynote on Tuesday, hopefully I'll have a spanking new iPod by Wednesday. Hopefully Apple will just mark-down the current iPods if they release any new ones, but, whatever. Last night I was thinking about a refurbed 8gb Nano vs a new 80gb Classic, now I'm wondering what is behind doors 1, 2 and 3. Gonna have to wait for Tuesday...
In the meantime I'll just have to settle with using the two 1st-gen Shuffles. They are slow, prone to doing their own thing, can't scrobble tracks with them and I can only use an analog audio connection to the car stereo. But they are still better than listening to FM radio.
