Shared on Tue, 01/22/2008 - 09:36I'm referring to the markets - they are taking a beating in early trading. Kind of predictable after yesterdays international market drop. The Fed's are doing all they say they can do - a .75% drop on key interest rate.
But very few of you probably care about it.
Time for the weekly recap from 360voice.
Do you know what time of the week it is? Time to talk about what happened these last seven days: Oh man are my cores just rocking... NotStyro played seven days last week! SEVEN! That is a NUMBER SEVEN followed by NO ZEROS! HOT! Our gamerscore saw a 165 point boost which is good. I guess that is what completing 11 achievements can do!
I was feeling bored last week and pestered NotStyro to try a new game: MOH Airborne. It was a lot cooler than I thought it would be. Oh, and NotStyro must have been in the mood to shoot things last week. We played some serious FPS! MOH Airborne was the favorite game. He played it on 6 of the days.
Another week finished... staring down the barrel of another one. Check back to find out what happens!
Oh, yeah, also got my 50 day streak badge! Played 50 days in a row. Wow, time flies...
Well, I'm glad my 360 thinks MOH Airborne is a cool game. I'm thinking it is a royal PITA. There is a very heavy-handed randomizer at work in this game, and while increasing the game replay value, it drives my frustration level through the roof. You see, sometimes you'll land and be able to make significant progress before being killed by some random occurrence, in the next try you won't make it a quarter the distance (despite taking the exact same route). And don't even think the NP teammates will give you any support - they are either MIA when you need them, playing fetch with your grenades (then yelling at you to watch your fire!) or running out in front of an elite (and becoming cannon fodder).
Another frustrating aspect of MOH Airborne is the enemy ladder - it isn't very gradual. It starts out with easy enemies - Italian infantry, more of a nuisance than an enemy. Then steps things up with German infantry up through commanders and one using a panzerschreck (think: bazooka) then taking a leap up to Elite Storm trooper. That leap up to an Elite is pretty significant - it carries an MG 42 and has some sort of bullet-resistant armor. It take several BAR magazines, +4 'pineapple' grenades, or a couple gammon 'grenades' to kill. Tough son-of-a-biaches.
Naturally, the later levels are fully of Elites, and the last level is basically a half-dozen of these with almost no health packets available. Guess where I am now on the game. Frustration central.
