Shared on Thu, 01/24/2008 - 15:29$19 Billion dollars. How much is that? Is that even a number that you can comprehend? Well, that is how much money the video game industry pulled in last year. It's a staggering figure to say the least. I am personally responsible for a least a few hundred of that.

I know for me it is difficult to encapsulate a number like that. I took the liberty of running some numbers to figure out how much money that really is. First, let's look at that number and all the zeros.
$19,000,000,000 - That is a huge number.
You could buy every resident of Muncie, IN a 2007 Ferrari 599.
With 19 billion one dollar bills, you could circle the earth four times if you lined them up end-to-end.
You could build 475,000,000 miles of new federal highway, which is enough for over 85,000 round-trips from New York City to Los Angeles.
You could buy Paul Allen's 410ft yacht 95 times over, or you could pay the $20M dollar maintenance fee of his yacht for 950 years.
Yes, my friends, that is a LOT of money. They must have some amazingly powerful lobbyists in Washington so I am wondering where the political pushback comes from. Maybe they should put more money in to their lobbyists, or maybe they're just not worried.
