Before they became the Spin Cheezes

The Spin Doctors were a small touring jam band that played a lot of bars in college towns and we saw them several times locally in Geneva, NY when in college.  Soon after the "Two Princes" video made it onto MTV their heads ballooned and they sold out bigtime.  They lost most of the cool factor and were a picture of cheesiness…  This is a perfect example of the sellout, with custom modified lyrics….

If I had the chance I'd sell out for big MTV bucks in a second.

I don't like when musicians change their lyrics for commercials or due to pressure from censors. But I think it is fine to do it for a kids show. You know, for the kids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF4uboXhJ7I Oh, and I didn't know about they Spin Doctors before they sold out, but I am pretty sure they sucked even then.

Mark White threw up in my bathroom once. They always sucked, like the Pats.

Say what you want, but if you like music: I think you do it either to entertain or toshow your art. If you want to entertain: if kids love you, they LOVE you... Just because it's kids, why do we say that ti's less real? Maybe I have my head in the clouds, but bringing joy to people: how can that be bad? Especialy if the people are wee...

The Spin Doctors were awesome before they recorded their first studio albums. They used to pack 'em in at Nightingales on 2nd ave and 13th. Absolutely none of the production on any of their albums is even close to what they sounded like live. They were tight, funky as hell and had tons of energy. It totally got lost in translation once it went to the studio. I still have a DAT from the soundboard at Hobart. Sadly, I have no DAT machine.
