The earlier gaming MSM reviews were correct - Turning Point has so many glitches and bugs I don't know where to begin. Even in the first 'act' I was hit by a problem that blocked my character from picking up the weapons. No amount of pressing and holding 'X' would work. The only thing was to restart from the last checkpoint and hope.
You want glitches? Turning Point has got you covered. How about being stuck in a loop climbing up a short wall, jumping back down. Rinse, wash, rinse, wash, rinse, wash, mash 'power off' button in disgust. Or how about aiming through the sights at an enemy that is partially blocked by a wall, emptying the mag, then having said enemy jump out and shred you when you reload.
Then there are 'traps' - basically texture mismatches and missing textures. If you are lucky you will be able to get out. Otherwise you'll be mashing that handy power button.
If you think I became really familiar with my box's [remote control] power button by playing Turning Point, you are very correct.
Strangely, despite those issues, the game is somewhat addictive. I would venture a guess that it is as addictive as rubbernecking at a horrible accident or waiting for a predicted train wreck. You want to keep playing to see just how bad it will get (and besides, there are still achievement points).
So much for what appeared to be a very promising game.
In other blog-worthy events, this week I was reminded how dangerous it can be bicycle riding in this area. The car driver was looking at incoming traffic and didn't bother to check where s/he was going until after nearly hitting me (ok, I felt bumper on my shin, so it was technically a hit). Luckily I was being somewhat careful (I was even wearing my high-visibility bright orange t-shirt) and s/he was pulling out slowly. So a reminder - look BOTH ways before pulling out into traffic!
The diet, exercise and weight loss seem to be going ok this week. I'm losing overall, even if there is a lot of see-saw type weight activity. I haven't quite nailed down what is causing the see-sawing, but in addition to watching/counting calories and sodium I also have to deal with carbs. If I have over 53%, or so, carbs a day then the weight will be stable or increase. Too few calories will also cause a stabilizing or gain. Supposedly the sodium can also contribute to weight fluctuations, but I watch it due to a family history of high blood pressure. It is a confusing mess to deal with, but I guess I will figure it out eventually.
I think that is it, so have a great weekend y'all and don't forget the time change on Sunday morning.
