2008.
It's a big (but cheaply made) book. The size made me think there was a lot of world records - but there's not. Only in the back do you find that wuss Billy Mitchell and others on their deceitful quest to game dominance. What is cool about the book is overviews on every single game and/or type that has ever been created. Lots of interesting facts:
First 3on3 elimination match - The King of Fighters '94
Mortal Combat was the first fighting game to feature a secret character - Reptile
The voice of Samus in Metroid is also the same voice as Cinderella
The first ESPN licensed game was ESPN Sunday Night NFL
EA - though a crappy company, made 3.09 billion in 2007 - they must be doing something right. However, Battlefield: Bad Company is not it...
Gran Turismo sold 3,182,535 copies on the first day of release.
WoW has 9.3 million subscribers. A film featuring Thrall will be released in 2009.
There are 69,552 items available in Everquest II
Kane from Command and Conquer has been doing the Kane thing for 14 years...
and much much more....
