She dropped a 50lb meter on her foot and she wasn’t wearing her steel-toed shoes. I left work early and met her at the hospital (her brother drove her there). They did some x-rays and the doctor said she more then likely broke her foot. We go back today to find out for sure. Since she wasn’t wearing her safety shoes when she was supposed to, we’ll have to pay the bill. If she can’t do her job and has to go home, she probably won’t be able to get worker’s comp. Ironically, along with the other hats I wear, I’m head of safety where I work. We take safety very seriously and if this kind of an incident occurred here the person at fault would more then likely be let go. While safety should be important everywhere, I'm hoping that my wife’s workplace doesn’t take it as seriously as we do.
I had a good talk with my daughter this weekend. We worked through some issues and had a chance for some bonding time. There’s still a ways to go, but this weekend was a good start. I thought I was going to have to explain why her mother and I got divorced. Surprisingly, my ex had already told her about it and took accountability for her actions. I don’t have too many good things to say about my ex, but I have to give her credit for stepping up and taking responsibility for what happened (even if it did take her over a decade to get around to it).
I took a chance and picked all four number one seeds to make it to the Final Four. It looks like that decision might pay off!
