When the flap started last week about Obama's truism regarding Pennsylvania, I tried to write about it a few times and it didn't come out right. I almost had something, then I read Dastards's Blog. He pretty much summed up my opinion. Or so I thought. So I didn't bother publishing.

Then I watched Monday's Daily Show on Tivo while I ate my humble dinner tonight. My viewpoint is now a Stewart/Dastard hybrid. It is so nice having other people write for me.

"Doesn't 'elite' mean 'good?' Is that not something we're looking for in a President anymore? You know what? Candidates, come with me."

[Turns to Camera#3]

"I know elite is a bad word in politics, and you want to go bowling and throw back a few beers. But the job you're applying for, if you get and it goes well THEY MIGHT CARVE YOUR HEAD INTO A MOUNTAIN! If you don't actually think you're better than us, THEN WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!?"

-The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, 4/14/08

I, for one, would like to look forward to having a President to which I'm not vastly intellectually superior. Actually, at this point I'd settle for one to which my dog isn't vastly intellectually superior.

He is also the "poorest" presidential candidate by far at only a 3-4 million of net worth last time I checked...and almost all of that was from his first book and the advance for the second.

I agree with what you are saying... But there is a difference between elite and elitist. I want an elite president. I might tolerate an elitist, if he's elite enough.

I want an intelligent president who understands what it means to earn a living and how the economy works. Not a president who laments the price of arugula at Whole Foods and thinks that vilifying the rich is a way to distract the middle class from the realization that there is a large object being repeatedly inserted in their ass. Obama is privileged. He does not understand what it means to work for a living. And he doesn't understand basic economics. BTW...Thanks for the credit. It always scares me when we agree :)
