Rock Band - Solo Guitar

Part of the nightly ritual in my house is a good 30 minutes or so of Rock Band. My daughter will take the mic (which I wisely leave unplugged, she's 2 1/2 after all) and I'll heft my stratocaster and we'll work through her favorite set list:

  • (don't fear) The Reaper
  • Blitzkrieg Bob
  • Call Me

Sometimes my little vocalist will allow me to inject a few extra songs into the mix to change things up, but those are the must plays. Last night she requested Flirting with Disaster, which is easily the hardest song to play on guitar in Rock Band, at least for me. It remained the last song I needed to finish to complete the single player tour on hard. In fact after a good couple of weeks of trying I had given up hope of getting through the song myself without having to bring in a Doppelganger.

But she asked nicely, so I started through the song expecting fully to fail when I hit 75% through and had my hands lock up trying to riff my way through the guitar solo.

Much to my surprise I still had full over drive meter and a 75% fan approval when I hit the solo. Some how I managed to fake my way through and get back to the chorus and then fake my way through the rest of the song for a completion! Woot!

There are few Xbox 360 achievements that I'm actually proud to have archived myself. Completing single player guitar on hard is definitely one of them.

Now on to single player vocals!
