blub, blub, blub...

Been sick for the past few days. Dunno what it was, but it is almost gone now. It just gave me a sinus headache from hell, some digestive disturbances, dizziness, sound & light sensitivity, etc. The OTC sinus headache medicine worked the first two days, but not the last two. I toughed it out and apparently won.

After returning Frontlines:Fuel of War I started on C&C3. Since I hadn't played since last September I had to do the bootcamp again to relearn the crippled/retarded interface. On the PC the game is great and wonderful, but the 360 doesn't have a keyboard and trackball for control. I guess the developers did their best to fit all the functions into the 360 controller, but it is damn frustrating to use.

I also got the PC involved in the C&C3 gaming, since I own copies for both platforms. I just had to do a check for updates and found that I had missed the last five. Then do the bootcamp thing again to remind myself to read the manual (the bootcamp is for people that have never played a C&C/RedAlert/Westwood game before). I then checked the game settings and got reminded that my PC barely fits the minimum requirements for C&C3. I guess it is time to order a new motherboard, a Core 2 Quad, couple gigs ram, evga 8800GTS 320mb video card and a bunch of fans.

Anybody know if a 8800GTS video card with DVI outputs and HDCP will play Blu-ray movies? I think software is available, so only the hardware it a problem. I'll need to pass the DVI through an HDMI to play on my main TV. It sounds like it should work, but you never know what kind of tricks and traps Sony and other content providers have done with the specs.

The game on the 360, um, when I get around to it again, is Assassin's Creed. My nephew was playing on his new build PC (same specs as I'm going to build), and he enjoyed it immensely (well, after he had to reinstall Windows and crowbar the software to work). I guess I'll get around to it today or tomorrow.

While I was sick I didn't get in any cycling, but amazingly lost weight. Before todays ride I performed my standard safety check and noticed that not only is the rear tire going bald along the the center line, but the wear marks (like bead on a steel-belt car tire) are showing. Time for another pit stop at the shop.

Meantime, here are some stats from the cycle computers...

Cateye Velo 5 (bought with bike ~2 years ago)
Odometer: 1,642.4 mi
Max speed: 19.5 mph

Polar CS200-cad (stats since Mar-12)
Odometer: 689.0 mi
Max Speed: 22.9 mph
Total Time Riding: 54h 51m 27s
Total Calories Burned: 3,463.9

Oh, and breaking news....John Edwards is going to endorse Obama.  Finally!  I wonder if it too late for that bump...
