Busy Week

Whew! What a week!

 

Last Monday, I came into work for a couple of hours and then left with my boss on that business trip I didn’t want to go on, but I decided to keep a positive attitude. Now, I’m glad I went! When we got to Chattanooga and checked in I got a nice surprise. I thought I was going to have to share a room with my boss. For some reason, the hotel moved me into my own room…and it was a suite on the concierge floor.

 

The company supplied us tickets to a baseball game and had a pavilion reserved for us. We also had free hamburgers, hot dogs, and beer. Yes, free beer. I stayed for about half the game and then went back to the hotel. I had a good buzz and decided to check out what guest services there were. I found out that being a guest on the concierge floor gave me access to the VIP lounge. When I got to the lounge I saw they had an honor bar. I poured myself a scotch…and then another…and then another. Then, I met my boss in the hotel bar and got even drunker. I paid for it Tuesday morning, but it was worth it. In fact, I did a lot of networking, which meant I was drinking every night. Since the company was picking up the tab for everything, I figured I’d better make it worth it. 

 

We had conferences and meetings the rest of the week with a nice breakfast and lunch buffets for our meals. Tuesday night the company reserved the Chattanooga aquarium and catered in barbeque from a place called Sticky Fingers. Best barbecue I’ve ever had. The aquarium was about the neatest one I’ve ever been to. Wednesday night we had a catered dinner on the Southern Belle riverboat. Thursday there was an awards banquet in the hotel ballroom and we had filet mignon and scallops. We left Friday morning.

 

Besides all the fun evening stuff, the conference was pretty good. Met a lot of cool people, learned some new things, and got to hear some interesting speakers. 

 

Friday, after I got home, I just kind of took it easy. Saturday and Sunday, the wife and I went camping, swimming, and fishing. Caught a nice catfish, a few bluegills, and a couple of small bass. Last night we went and saw Indiana Jones. I thought the movie was really good, but I have one major complaint that I can’t mention here without it being a spoiler. All in all, a busy week, but it was fun.
