Disgusting

That's what it is like to step outside here in Beijing. No offense to any native Chinease here in 2o2p, but this city is disgusting right now. Need proof? Try the worst pollution EVER since it's been measured.

Just stepping outside today to walk a block to the Starbucks for a morning coffee was nasty. The dust that had settled overnight on the sidewalk was like a powder, making the footing slick. Just 24-hours leaves a blanket on the city, not of pollen or anything like that, but crap from the construction and the sandstorms to the west. Sorry for the rant, but as sad as it sounds - I'm going to be glad to get to the 'cleanliness' of New Jersey on Friday.

I remeber a trip to Phoenix, coming down from the higher elevation overlooking the city you could see the smog hanging overhead. I had to run a National Cross Country race in that crap.

I'd like to see a side by side with L.A. in the summer. When did everyoen get cars over there, i thought most people rode bikes.

That's one of the reasons gas is so expensive. China is seeing such a boom that everyone is buying cars. I saw a show on the road system in China which said that at the rate they are growing they will have more roads in China than in the US soon!
