I was really hoping for a point and click adventure game along the lines of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango. Unfortunately Insecticide tries to be both a point and click adventure and 3d platformer and fails to inspire as either.
The game starts with a platformer level and proceeds to switch back and forth, between the two game types. It is really at it's best as a point and click adventure as the writing is interesting and the story hints and being deeper than it really is. The platform levels pretend to be a third person shooter a little much, which is really poorly suited to play on the DS. The PC or even a home console version would have been much more suited to the task than the d-pad and touch screen were.
All in all I feel I got what I paid for with the game ($20) but I was really left with the though that the game could have been so much more. The main character was likeable, the roach noir was different but over all it didn't have enough meat for my tastes.
