Jihad declared on Rachel Ray's scarf

Rachel RayRachel Ray recently made an ad for Dunkin Donuts in which she is wearing a scarf.  Seems ok to me, looks like a raggedy scarf, but whatever.  Apparently this has prompted some outrage by Foxnews Michelle Malkin.  I'm a conservative, so I was curious as to what the story was on this.

I guess her scarf reminds people of a keffiyeh which is a traditional headdress worn by arab men.  Michelle Malkin made such a stir about the scarf that there was talk of perhaps even boycotting Dunkin Donuts.  But why?

In an article for Townhall Malkin says "It's refreshing to see an American company show sensitivity to the concerns of Americans opposed to Islamic jihad and its apologists".  Wowza, to me it's just a scarf.  I'm sure there was no intention by her stylist who picked out the scarf and dressed Rachel up in it.  I would also venture to say that Rachel had no idea what a keffiyeh was.

I've about had it up to here with all this political correctness bull crap going on in the world.  Everyone's scared to say what they think because they might offend somebody.  If what I'm wearing offends you, don't look at it.  If what I'm saying offends you, don't listen.  If what I'm hearing offends me, I won't listen.  It's not rocket science.  It's just people imposing their will on our rights.

Dunkin Donuts issued this statement "Thank you for expressing your concern about the Dunkin' Donuts advertisement with Rachael Ray. In the ad that you reference, Rachael is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design that was purchased at a U.S. retail store. It was selected by the stylist for the advertising shoot. Absolutely no symbolism was intended. However, given the possibility of misperception, we will no longer use the commercial."

I guess I better make sure my jeans don't look like a flaffelyehkeff in case that offends someone and makes them think I'm promoting jihad.

I'm no Rachael Ray fan, (or DD for that matter) but even I defended this ad when I first heard about it. Ha! PC gone amok...
